Newsairy 1.13 is here, and most of it is something you can’t see.
The way Newsairy shares state between its screens has been rebuilt from the ground up. It’s the plumbing that decides what each view knows, and when it updates — and it’s now cleaner and easier to build on. You shouldn’t notice a single change there, and that’s exactly the goal: everything opens and works the way it always has, only on steadier foundations. I did it to clear the path for what’s coming next — groundwork that lets future features arrive faster and break less.
On top of that groundwork, a few things did change.
Mark as Read on Scroll is more accurate, and lighter. It used to mark articles you never scrolled past: when the list rearranged itself — clearing the read ones, changing filter or sort — the rows sliding off the top counted as read. Newsairy now pauses while that happens, and stays smooth even on very long lists.
Large archives are much faster, thanks to a tester with 150,000 articles. Marking a whole feed as read no longer crawls, and the counts on Custom Smart Feeds keep up however big the archive gets.
A badly timed sync can no longer undo your reading. If one landed while your latest taps were still on their way to the server, it could quietly roll them back. Now what you did on your device always wins.
Shortcuts arrive, with the first action: Add RSS feed to Newsairy. Hand it a URL from a shortcut, an automation, or the share sheet, and Newsairy opens with the Add Feed sheet ready to go.
