After more than 14 years on WordPress, this site has a new home — built with Hugo and hosted on statichost.eu, a privacy-friendly hosting service with no cookies, no tracking, and no Big Tech dependencies.

The move wasn’t just about changing address. It was a chance to start fresh: a cleaner design, a faster site, and a single place for all my apps.

PhotInfo 8.22 and PhotInfo NG are now available on the App Store.

This update introduces a new option in Settings that lets you override the system appearance and force Light or Dark mode, giving you more control over how the app looks.

This update introduces a new option to disable reverse geocoding — a sort of paranoid mode 😆 for those who prefer to share absolutely no data. With this setting, even the information normally used to convert coordinates into human‑readable addresses is withheld, so you’ll only see raw latitude/longitude values without place names.

The update also includes small optimizations and refinements to improve performance and usability across iOS and macOS.

The latest iPhones’ Camera app automatically embeds auxiliary data into Portrait Photos, including the disparity (depth) map, Effects Matte, and Glasses Matte, among others. These elements are crucial for applying Portrait Effects to photos. Now, this auxiliary data is clearly visualized and displayed in the Resources view, allowing you to preview and export them. For a few days now PhotInfo is available on the Mac.

The app works like on iPhone/iPad: it only accesses the pictures in your Photos Library (the ones you see in the native Photos app). PhotInfo for Mac shows all the tags contained in these images and let you modifying the main ones.

The UI is very similar, but it’s not the same: it’s optimized for the Mac.

If you buy PhotInfo (or unlock the editing in PhotInfo NG) on one platform you can download the app on the other platforms for free.

After the .00.0 release a bug fixing one:

there were several bugs related to systems using the 12 hours format (sometimes not correctly changing hours, sometimes not opening Extension and not always displaying date and time);
the Extension in landascape mode was hiding the Done button on 3.5″ and 4″ devices (iPhone 4S, 5 and 5S): now the UI changes from portrait to landscape mode and vice versa;

PhotInfo reached the success I hoped for. In this year it has acquired a lot of features and it has received a big interface redesign with the arrive of iOS 7. Reverse geocoding: it converts a latitude and longitude value and find a user-readable address. It is a long time since I wrote a post here. The reason is the work on a new app!

I’m glad to announce the availability of PhotInfo 1.00.0.

It’s a simple app that let you scroll your images and see the info in them. PhotInfo shows the main info while you scroll images and can show all the exif tags contained. Moreover it informs you if the image contains georeferencing tags with a little button that let you enter a map showing where the photo was taken.

I’m finishing the tests on the new version of CountOnMe. In my roadmap there was no iPhone 5 special support (even if the new display was expected), so 1.7 will not take advantage of them.

I’ll add support for the new display in the near future. I hope this isn’t a big issue.

I ‘ve done a roadmap to 1.6: 2 new graphs and some optimizations for the graph classes. Then arrived Xcode 4.4. And holidays are coming soon.

I could not wait to accomplish all that to release 1.6. So I decided to make small steps:

1.5.40 a new graph and development with Xcode 4.4;
1.5.80 the other graph;
1.6 graph classes optimizations.

I can’t make an exact forecast, but the first release is not that far ;-P

It’s now possible to delete all the data of a counter without delete the entire counter: it is possible to maintain buttons, names, titles etc. erasing all data. In facts in Counter Settings there is now a new button: Clear Counter Data.
Some bugs fixing: now it is possible to use the Undo button after the use of Data, Map or Stats View.
